September is here and for many of you that’ll mean new starts. For me, I don’t have the joys of ‘back to school’ season, however there must be some sense of routine stuck in me because whenever this time of year rolls around I always feel the need to rejuvenate my space a little bit and change up my environment.

Something about having a good clear out and going back to basics with your bedroom can honestly make such a difference to your mood, happiness and outlook on certain aspects of life. I am a firm believer in ‘tidy space, tidy mind’.

My room has stuck to a somewhat minimalistic theme for the last couple of years but as time goes on and possessions are acquired, a bit of clutter is inevitable. I like having slightly overcrowded areas of my room, for example the shelf above my dressing table, which is practical but mostly there for decoration. I also make use of my windowsill and under-bed area as my room is fairly small and this enables me to keep hold of little nicknacks without them getting in the way.

Today I thought I’d share a few photos showing the small changes I’ve made to my room recently. I’ve added a clothes rail, switched the direction of my bookshelf and added a faux sheepskin rug. These are the main alterations, but even re-arranging the items on the bookshelf and deciding which clothes to place on the rail, made such a difference.

Perhaps these photos don’t show the full effect, but I’m so happy with the new design of my bedroom and the small adjustments I’ve made – especially considering how little money I spent. It just goes to show that you don’t need a lot of space or a huge budget to spruce up your interior and refresh your surroundings!

Hope you enjoyed this post and that you have a fabulous week.

uo nail polishes.jpg

Being a huge fan of Urban Outfitters and having not yet tried their nail polishes, when I saw a bunch of colours in their online sale I thought it was about time I gave them a go. Here’s what I think.

PACKAGING: I’m a sucker for packaging, as I’m sure we all know by now, and these bottles are just too cute. The glass cubes contain a generous amount of product and, although maybe not the best for those trying to conserve space, they do make for snazzy decor and look adorable sat on top of a dressing table or desk. I mean it would be pretty rude of me to shove them in a drawer to be honest! I also love that each polish has a shade name because again, that is something I look for in a nail polish (I’m literally so sad). The three I picked up recently are ‘Miss Scarlet’ a gorgeous deep red, ‘Flamingo’ a bright barbie pink, and ‘Merlot’ a blue-toned dark(ish) purple.

FORMULA: I do like the formula of these nail polishes. They glide on smoothly and dry with a gorgeous glossy finish!

BRUSH: The brush is just your standard nail polish brush really. It’s a pretty perfect size for coating your nails with (although a little tricky to do in just 3 strokes as it’s quite narrow) and it does the job nicely so I have zero problems with it!

APPLICATION: These nail polishes definitely need two or more coats. I have tried out all three colours and it has been the case for all three that one coat just isn’t enough if you want an opaque look. However this is the same for many brands so I always tend to do a couple of coats anyway! The colour payoff is excellent and your nails end up looking the exact same shade as the bottle portrays. In other words, you get what it says on the tin in terms of shades.

STAYING POWER: I’d say a top coat is a grand idea if you want your polish to stay on longer than a day or two. My nails have tended to chip pretty quickly when I wear this brand which is a bit disappointing but also not surprising considering I am quite shocking at nails and never bother with a top coat. I have noticed myself topping up my nail polish more often since I’ve been wearing these, but then again I have been consciously making an effort with my nails lately so maybe it’s just that I’m noticing the chips more!

PRICE: These nail polishes are on the pricier side, when comparing to brands like Barry M (my all time fave) and other drugstore brands, however they are slightly cheaper than alternatives such as Essie and O.P.I. Always on offer for 2 for £10, otherwise retailing at £6 each, they’re not bad but not the most affordable. If you can get these on sale like I did then 100% grab them whilst you can! I love mine, and although I’m not sure I could justify spending that lil’ extra every time I buy a polish, I can definitely justify the odd ‘treat yo’self’ moment as they’re beautiful.

Let me know if you’ve tried these nail polishes and also if you like this style of blog post. It’s different to usual but maybe more useful sectioning it into catagories? idk, comment below with your thoughts!

Hope you’re having a lovely start to the week and I’ll speak to you soon.

pimlico freshpimlico fresh orange juicegreen eggsteapimlico fresh french toast

A few weeks ago, I found myself in ‘Pimlico Fresh’.

Located on Wilton Road, London, this stylish cafe is home to a daily changing blackboard of dishes – including Savoury French Toast (pictured above). Holy Moly is this delicious. So maybe it’s not the most instagram-worthy of dishes, but this combination of brioche-style, doughy bread, oozing with melted cheese, topped with crispy bacon and a side of maple syrup is enough to leave you feeling like you’ve had the breakfast of a lifetime.

Priced at almost £10, I was dubious at first. I decided to go halves with my sister as I was warned they were very filling and, for me, this was the perfect amount. I probably could’ve stomached a whole one but I certainly wouldn’t have made it to the train station afterwards for fear of a food coma.

Definitely not the most healthy of breakfasts, but when in London for the weekend, money and health seem to go out the window and I can guarantee it’s worth it if you decide to take a trip to Pimlico. The overall vibe of the cafe is contemporary and a hub of activity, with business men rushing in to grab a freshly squeezed orange juice and macbook owners sipping away at their flat whites, all in the name of brunch darling.

If you’re in this area and feeling peckish, I would recommend stopping by. It was definitely a breakfast to remember and if ever I go back, I know exactly what I’ll be ordering!

I lived in a small but cosy apartment in the Old Town for 3 nights before travelling to Moulunat in Konavle, where I spent a week relaxing in a villa with a pool, hot tub and the sea right on its doorstep. We also stopped by in Cavtat for one night which was much more touristy but still stunning and host to one of our favourite meals out (in a restaurant called ‘Dalmacija’ – I would highly recommend the lasagne!)

Whilst none of these pictures truly do Dubrovnik justice, I managed to capture a few moments from the trip, including a snap of one of the most amazing ice creams I’ve ever eaten – ‘Dolce Vita’, found on a little side street, does the best! I also witnessed some incredible views from the City Walls which run uninterrupted for 1940 metres surrounding the City. Such a trek, especially in the 30+ degrees, but definitely worth doing early in the morning to avoid the worst of the heat!

I sunbathed, swam in the crystal clear sea, and partied with Sigma on Banje Beach. Just the usual really. I will definitely look back at Dubrovnik with fond memories and am so grateful that I got to experience it!

To get a closer look as to what I got up to, there’s a few more photos up on my instagram and I recorded some clips so I’ll pop those into a vlog sometime soon!

makeup rev contour palette

Hey guys, long time no tag!?

I was recently tagged by the lovely Hannah from ‘Hannah’s Wonderland‘ to do the ‘My Makeup Story’ tag which I’d never seen before. I liked the look of the questions and thought it’d been a while since I did a chatty blog post, so here I am – off we go!

How old were you when you started wearing make-up?

I think I was around 12 when I started wearing make-up… but when I say make-up I mean natural collection mascara and natural collection mascara only. I probably upgraded to a tinted moisturiser at around 13 and only discovered the world of actual foundation, eyeshadow and all other wondrous things later on in life.

How did you get into make-up?

Probably the same way a lot of young girls (cringe) do nowadays – through YouTube! I remember watching Tanya Burr back in the day and getting loads of tips from her. She was probably the first YouTuber I watched, before I even had an account and realised you could subscribe and actually make your own videos. Madness.

What are some of your favourite brands?

I think Revlon, Maybelline and Rimmel are really great drugstore brands. I also love Makeup Revolution for super affordable makeup and Anastasia Beverly Hills (even though I only own one product lol) for more expensive shizz.

What does make-up mean to you?

Ooh cheeky deep question thrown into the mix, love it. I’d agree with Hannah here and say it just makes me feel more put together and gives me that little extra confidence. I also love experimenting with make-up, IT’S JUST FUN! I’ve never understood people that complain about putting on make-up because a) if you don’t wanna wear it, don’t  b) why would you not love doing your makeup!? It’s literally my fave part of the day, how sad.

If you could only wear 4 products on your face, what would they be?

Okay totally copying Hannah here but definitely foundation, bronzer, mascara and a brow product. Could probably even go without bronzer if necessary but I would look like a potato.

What is your favourite thing about make-up?

I love that there’s always something new to try. Whether it’s a new product range or a new trend, or just a technique that you’ve never come across before. Something as simple as changing which brush you use to contour can really spice up your makeup routine.

(Obviously my actual favourite thing is that it can hide my beetroot cheeks, give me brows and make my eyes look less like that of a naked mole rat)

What do you think of Drugstore VS High End make-up?

I’m not hugely experienced in high-end makeup because 99% of the time I’m too busy crying at my bank balance to make an expensive purchase. However I am (rather annoyingly) becoming a bit of a sucker for pricey makeup. Saying that, it’s not always a case of ‘you get what you pay for’ as I think it can be hit-and-miss for any product, no matter what the cost. Some high-end makeup has been a let down and not worked for me personally. Some drugstore makeup is up there with my holy-grail items and beats high-end any day.

I’d say go for a mixture of the two. Save up and treat yourself to something really special every now and again, but don’t diss the drugstore. It comes bearing many gifts and will save you heaps of money.

What is one make-up trend you’ve never understood?

I’m really struggling to think of an answer for this one and I think it’s because I appreciate that make-up can be worn in whichever way the wearer wants!! It’s an art form in my opinion and even if a makeup look seems a bit cray, if it’s done well and you appreciate the skill involved it’s really not hard to understand.

What do you think of the beauty community on Youtube?

I love it! Starting my own channel has opened my eyes so much to the community and how lovely everyone is. Sure you get the odd debbie downer, but on the whole it’s such a lush group of people who support each other, share tips and tricks and generally put me in the best mood! I’m so grateful to be a part of it.

Thankyou once again to Hannah for tagging me and generally supporting all my internet ramblings both on my blog and on YouTube! <3

I tag Beth from Life With B , Courtney from Blush and Blend, and Sophie from Petals of Perfection. Love you gals xo

spectrum brushes

Recently I was given the opportunity to try out ‘Spectrum’ brushes and of course I jumped at the chance because WHY WOULDN’T I WANT PINK BRUSHES IN MY LIFE!?

If you haven’t seen this brand floating around Instagram then, quite frankly, you’re missing out because every time I see a pic of these adorable mermaid-inspired brushes I die a little inside. The brand are PETA registered, vegan trademarked and cruelty free (YAAS) and claim to be the leading brand in trend lead makeup brushes with professional performance. They have also been used by the stars of TOWIE, Geordie Shore, MIC and many more.

I was very kindly sent the ‘8 Piece Eye Blending Set’ which retails for £29.99 and can be purchased HERE. I unboxed the brushes on camera in an unboxing video over on my YouTube channel so if you wanna see my overly-excited initial reaction to the cuteness click HERE. I definitely said ‘cool’ WAY too many times in that video so here I plan to share my thoughts in a little more detail and actually give a verdict on whether the brushes are worth purchasing.

eye brushes spectrum

As the name suggests, there are 8 brushes within this particular set. Spectrum provide a wide range of brush sets including face brushes aswell as accessories such as brush cleaners and make-up bags. If you’re not one for bright colours I would recommend taking a look at the ‘Marbleous’ range for a rose gold and marble themed affair – which is rather divine if I do say so – however I am fully obsessed with these brushes due to the PINK HANDLES and unique blue to purple ombre bristles.

The brushes came in a super cute pink pouch which will be perfect for travelling with and on first impressions they feel really nice quality and not the type to shed – hurray!!

The set includes a range of fluffy blending brushes and more compact smaller/tapered brushes lending themselves to a range of uses, such as running eyeshadow underneath your eyes or creating a defined cut crease look.

I’m yet to try out every brush, but oh my. The fluffy blending brushes are honestly so fab! They blend eyeshadow like a DREAM and I love that they’ve included more than one so you can blend out a smokey eye without using just one brush. The bristles are made of high quality synthetic hair and are literally so soft it’s incredible.

On first impressions, I would definitely recommend Spectrum if you’re looking to invest in some new brushes! They have the perfect balance of cuteness and practicality so I can see myself reaching for these on an everyday basis from now on!

To purchase this particular set, click HERE.

Thankyou again to Spectrum Collections for sending me these brushes! I am so grateful and of course all opinions are my own :)
