Quick, Cheap and Easy- Everyday ‘Exam’ Makeup!

Hello everybody!

It’s now my half term so I am finally able to put up a cheeky blog post before getting back to the much-hated revision.

Seeing as a lot of you are also going through GCSE’s or A-levels, you probably know that on days where you have exams you don’t really want to be going for a full on smokey eye and red lips. You want something simple, quick and easy that won’t reduce those precious moments where you can squeeze in a bit of last minute cramming.

Here’s what I usually go for…

(sorry for the very over edited photo)

For the face I have recently been loving the Natural Collection Tinted Moisturiser.

I actually purchased this around summer time last year I think, just for something really sheer for those lazy days where you’re not going out put there’s still a possibility of someone popping round.. you never know!

However as my skin has been a bit dry recently I have been really unhappy with all of my foundations, so I whacked this out and thought “why not?”

Since then, I have used this pretty much everyday and I have really enjoyed it. I now feel much more relaxed with how it looks at throughout the day because I know it won’t cling to any dry patches or clog up my pores. It also looks a whole lot more natural which is perfect for the sunny weather that we are finally starting to get (..it’s raining as I type but it was sunny last week ok!)

Although this is great for an all over base, my dark circles are far too prominent to go without my trusty Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. I have switched it up a bit and recently converted to using Shade 1 (fair) instead of Shade 2 under my eyes and I definitely prefer this as it not only suits my skin tone better but also highlights under the eyes. I do still use Shade 2 on any blemishes that I have though as I don’t want to highlight them!

I also cannot live without my beloved Stay Matte Powder from Rimmel. Mine is in the shade 003 Peach Glow but I only really chose this shade because I ran out of my old one and there were no transparent ones left in stock. It does the job and suits my skin tone so I am perfectly happy with it and I have mentioned this far too much on my blog so I won’t blab on about how great it is any longer!

For the cheeks I find a dusting of both the bronzer and highlighter from the Sleek Contour Kit (shade ‘light’) is enough to make my non-existent cheekbones come to life without going overboard. I use this everyday without fail and as you can see I have only just hit pan even though I have had this for well over a year. There is still plenty of product and it has been thrown about many a time without cracking or breaking which goes to show how sturdy yet sleek (hehe) this item is overall. I <3 it.

I have been keeping it very simplistic for the eyes aswell as the face and have generally stuck to these 3 products.

The Maybelline Colour Tattoo in the shade ‘on and on bronze’ has served me very well in the past and never fails to impress me. This is brilliant for days where you just cannot be bothered to do anything fancy and just want a wash of shimmery-ness across the lids. Although I have a total of 5 maybelline colour tattoos, this was the first one I bought and always has and always will be my favourite out of the lot. As if you needed another reason to buy it, it only costs £5 and lasts for such a long time!

I then go on to use the Natural Collection Eye Lines in a dark matte brown colour. I usually line my tight line and halfway along my waterline before messily lining across my lash line and doing a lot of smudging with my finger. This compliments to bronze colour tattoo really nicely and requires zero precision making it super simple and quick.

To complete the eyes I curl them and add a coating of the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in the shade ‘very black‘ . This is more of a lengthening mascara rather than a volumising one which I used to not get along with, however since I have not been using liquid eyeliner as much I find that this actually goes better with the overall more ‘natural’ look.

It’s only been in the last couple of months that I have started to fill in my brows on a everyday basis, and I have to admit I have been sucked in to the hype. Gone are the days where I could leave the house feeling complete without filling in my eyebrows.

However I don’t go overboard and try to keep them looking as natural as possible just less sparse and slightly darker. I think dark brows actually suit me quite well so I usually use the £1 eyeshadow from MUA in shade ‘19-matte’. This thing is an absolute life saver (or should I say ‘brow-saver’….. no..sorry) and although I originally brought it purely as a dark brown eyeshadow, I have since come to the conclusion that it is pretty much my favourite brow product that I own. I do occasionally use a pencil, but I honestly find it a whole lot quicker to just run a bit of this through each brow using my Real Techniques Brow Brush and set them in place using my (very grubby looking) Natural Collection Clear Mascara (let’s just say it’s no longer clear.)

I finish the whole thing off with a lip balm or sometimes even a lip stain (if I’m feeling especially sassy) and that’s that.

My everyday ‘exam’ makeup finished!

I hope you gained some ideas from this or at least found it mildly interesting? I would be intrigued to see what you guys use on days where you just want something super quick and easy so let me know in the comments!

Good Luck to anyone going though any kind of exams at the moment, I hope you succeed and get the grades you deserve :) Don’t revise too hard!

Lots of Love

Izzy
